SOCIAL GOOD

Sierra Project Foundation

Web design for a non-profit organization, in partnership with Develop for Good

In volunteering with Develop for Good, I was able to work with the Sierra Project Foundation (SPF). SPF is a non-profit organization run by high school students whose goal is to spread health education through the power of the arts. They receive volunteer student illustrators to create comics about health issues that are then published and sent to communities in need.

SPF was in dire need of an update to their website and so reached out to Develop for Good for the opportunity to collaborate. I was fascinated to learn about their origins and the great impact that they already had thus far. It was a thrill to be able to help them achieve a brand new look that reflected the wonderful work they do every year.

VETERANS DAY

Proof of concept publication for the Red Badge Project

VETERANS DAY is a collection of short stories, letters, poems, and other written works from veterans who participate in the Red Badge Project or have come to share their work from beyond. Their short stories are accompanied by portrait photography provided by the amazing Steve Korn.

The Red Badge Project is a program for wounded warriors who struggle to heal the invisible wounds of PTSD, anxiety, and depression. The program helps veterans believe in the value of their story and finding the means to communicate it to their family, friends, and community.

I had the sobering experience of reading these stories and gaining a new perspective on veteran lives and the troubles they face after serving. In creating this publication, I truly wished to help show how telling a story is a feat of heroic proportions.
